it was..

odd, to see kyle like that. he looked much more upbeat and cheery, though she thinks that it's mostly because of their surroundings. with the shouting and the cheering, along with the crowds and the hyped men and women, she imagines that it probably just that. hopefully, it could rub off on her enough to loosen her nerves up.

... until she took a whiff. he.. smelled like alcohol he didn't reek of it because there was a lingering oder, but it was most definitely lingering. was he okay? "yes, you do know me." she smiles, waving her hand to him. maybe it wasn't too bad, right? "pff.." she nearly giggles at the sight "you seem a bit tipsy. they serve alcohol, here?"

Her mood soured, churning.[break][break]

Dominic had literally pulled her chain—affixing a construct to her leg to keep her from making a hasty departure. “Fuck!” and with that yank, her massive bowl of shaved ice spilled out onto the sand. “Ohhhh, come on!”[break][break]

She paid money for that drink.[break][break]

Her hand swung back, if only to bat at the persistent Klefki like she was trying to ward a Combee from a honey pot.[break][break]

Sand died blue as Bailey reoriented herself, almost tripping over the chain as she gave it a firm yank. “What? You wanna go for round two, bucko? Wanna fuckin' fight? We can throw down. Get your pokemon. We can fuckin' go—!” She extended her arms outward, holding them out in a challenging display.[break][break]

As a member of the Elite Four, she should have been expected to behave in a more civil manner.[break][break]

But it did not fucking matter, because people only seemed to recognize her when it convenient for them.[break][break]

She turned to march back in dominic sinclair 's direction, arms still outstretched. She was ready to get in his face, breath hot and heavy with the smell of heavy liquor. A good screaming match sounded like the perfect fix for her frustrations as her face flushed red.[break][break]

Mid-step, she fetched her flipflop, brandishing it as if it were a weapon.[break][break]

And that was when a fucking snake blasted sand over the front of her. She blinked, only feeling the sand slap against the lower half of her dress as it swayed from the spray.

“...Huh?” And the pokemon departed back into the crowd, her eyes following its direction.[break][break]

She stood there, stupefied. What was that supposed to accomplish?[break][break]

Her eyes switched back. “Uh... right, where were we? Fuck you?”

dominic instinctively straightens to his full height, and finds himself towering over the woman that has decided to make things much easier by verbally assaulting him first.

"yeah, you short bitch! let's fuckin' go, where's your fuckin' spoink? i'm going to rip that tail off its fat fuckin' body myself. where is he, huh? bring him out right now!"

he remembers splitting the watermelon earlier and fantasises about recreating the experience with the woman's - tailless - spoink.

although he feels a weak spattering of sand brush across his legs, dominic remains otherwise blissfully unaware of the sandaconda's presence. he didn't actually make any move toward Bailey Cooper - not when she tried to run, not when she swung around to round at him with a fucking flipflop - so any attempt to get under his feet would be ultimately fruitless.

still, his gaze follows the woman's as something darts into the sand and then escapes, a harmless little mound in a sea of legs.

"i'll bury that bouncing fuck," dominic says after a moment, though his confusion replaces some of his earlier bite.

"mantine surfing?" he echoes weakly. dominic lets the words rest between them.

a beat passes as he tries to fan the remaining embers of his prior rage, expression straddling confusion and anger. "what the fuck is wrong with you?"

dominic takes one slow step back from Bailey Cooper, and then a second one, until they're standing directly opposite each other like two beginner trainers gathering outside viridian forest. he reaches for where his pokeballs should be, in the inside pocket of his jacket, but only feels skin. dominic glances down and sees that he has been helplessly groping at his own abs. he tenses.

"okay bitch, let's go. where's the pig?" dominic manages to form the words after a moment, but there's a hesitation that sounds foreign in his voice. he glances up at his klefki for help but all the pokemon does is jangle its keys at him in a gesture of support.

She had no idea where to start with this and her irritation had gotten to the point to where she took of her glasses and as she let out a deep sigh of frustration she pinched the bridge of her nose.

”So you find these two in the state that they're in and instead of doing something to correct it you have him drinking more and then you blame it on the drunk. I work with enough idiots, not you too.” She couldn’t even scold Dominic due to his drunken ass wandering off to start causing trouble for someone else and again Eva had so many things to say but fuck it, that was going to be someone else’s problem.

If it wasn’t for the Priam situation Eva would’ve had more words for Kipling but she could feel her blood pressure rising so she’d contain herself for the time being.

”Not now, I have to deal with this mess.” was all he was going to get given the circumstances. And now it was back to Priam and she wasn’t sure if she should strangle him or not.

”You have no idea what you’re saying.” She sighed. Eva also didn’t want to think about the possibility that this isn’t the first time they’ve made their “designated driver” and what other kind of nonsense they’ve gotten into because of it.

”Give me that.” Eva would reach for the drink in Priam’s hand to take it.

”And yes you should probably go home now, I think you’ve had enough.”

[attr="class","marcelThread"]abner's drink had been a lot stronger than his own. despite this, marcel immediately downs the drink stolen from dominic, chasing away the thorny feeling lingering behind his sternum. as he drops the glass, a sudden realisation hits marcel, and he glances down to find a handful of glasses around his feet. bending down to pick them up is a lot harder than it seems; all he manages to do is shuffle them round a bit.

Eva Dumont's words are heard, but not entirely processed. fortunately for him, marcel is well-practised in this sort of thing, and the sombre look on his face is at least half believable. he wonders briefly is this is how Abner Armstrong saw him. it would explain a lot.

when he catches the tail end of her words, marcel throws an arm defensively over priam conrad's shoulders. in doing so, he's forced to admit he's a lot less steady on his feet than he expected--at least he plays it off well.

"aw come on eva," he says, "let the kid have his fun." said kid is gently shaken for emphasis. "you should join us, you deserve a break from that lab." he would like to think the smile he summons is charming, but he doesn't have a mirror to check.

Gavin's image of Valerio shifts and changes to adapt to this new facet of the man, woman? Both? It's not a situation he's had to deal with before, but they're in 20-fucking-20 and he's not one to judge.[break][break]

He sighs, however, as she tosses her drink into the sand. Gavin bends down and plucks it from the clutches of the beach, makes a face at the way sand clings to its rim. Gross. Not as gross as the environment was going to be if everyone just threw their trash wherever they pleased. Was there a trashcan nearby? There had to be, right? He's not usually one for these sorts of parties.[break][break]

His amber gaze rakes the beach, flicks back to Emma with unvoiced concern. Back to the beach, to the limbo, to an unfolding scene between dominic sinclair and a woman he's fairly certain is the Bailey Cooper. Yikes. Like marcel maeda, he stays out of it.[break][break]

No trashcans he can see, besides an over-filled one being picked at by wingull.[break][break]

Gavin's eyebrows arch at the joke, gaze returning to Valerio. "That's creepy, Vanessa."[break][break]

He sounds more matter-of-fact than bothered. He could, in fact, attest to the fact that Valerio was a busy man. He'd aimed for the title of Beast himself, before, knows the work that goes into the climb.[break][break]

Emma's separated herself from them both in her haste to duck Valerio's unwanted attention, and Gavin mends the distance between them with a few steps. She's stopped sipping her drink, her already-limited enthusiasm for the party deflating like an old balloon. He nods to it.[break][break]

"You going to drink that, or shall we look for a bin?"[break][break]

Accompanied with a smile, it's his way of offering her an out, a reason to escape the situation without admitting discomfort.

Emma's eyes narrow as the woman tosses her drink into the sand. It splashes against the grains, leaking the remainder of melted ice and light alcohol. Sand sticks to the rim and Gavin retrieves it before she can. [break][break]

"That's... the point of free drinks. They don't want you drunk for free."[break][break]

Her tone is flat and she stiffens as Gavin approaches her.[break][break]

Emma is only irritated based on her current interaction with him. The man was clingy and touchy-feely, something she was absolutely not. It's a side of her or him that she had never seen, probably because she didn't stick around in scenarios involving them.[break][break]

Vanessa insists that she hasn't been stalking them but frankly, she isn't convinced. Emma's relationship with Gavin had been unpublicized and kept in secret. This was the first time they had been out in public in a place they might be recognized. And honestly, she was starting to regret it.[break][break]

"I wasn't taught."[break][break]

She had been beaten, threatened, abused into the position. She had survived and that's why she held this position now.[break][break]

Gavin attempts to speak to her but she's frankly overstimulated. Her tight grip on the glass loosens as he breaks her line of sight, and she glances at him briefly.[break][break]

a sigh escapes priam as he appears sullen for having his rights to stay, along with the drink, confiscated away from him by Eva Dumont.

he was about to leave without any other further questions when he suddenly feels the weight on his shoulders. his face brightens up when marcel maeda stands up for him. Abner Armstrong's statement was the icing on the top. priam turns back to eva, pleading eyes joining in with their resolution to keep him in the beach.

"you already got a drink in your hand, so, yeah! you should go take a break from work!" he raises his right hand up. "i promise i won't follow dom's example."

he pertains to dominic sinclair, who had left them just to pick up a fight against lucas lane's best friend in the whole wide world aka Bailey Cooper. he makes a mental note to remind Lucas Lane that he's been replaced.

kind she might have seemed, iris can't help her annoyance as she loses sight of the woman within minutes. she had already been drunk when she arrived, so she supposed it wasn't too much of a surprise. abandoned, iris is forced to navigate the beach alone. the heat is starting to become a nuisance, but it isn't unbearable.

another drink spills; this time, iris reverses. a poor move, given that she didn't have time to check if anyone is behind her. she'd regret it even more once she finds out anyone just happens to be River Marx.

[attr="class","giada i"]turns out limbo isn't her forte. disappointment lingers for a moment before she remembers there's full bars and no longer a drink in her hand. time to fix it!

and that's how she finds herself hauling herself halfway up onto the bar to order another drink. instead of whiskey she'll change to vodka if only to see what kind of giada the party will get.

eventually, the drink is placed in front of her and she's pulling out her phone to send another text to marcel maeda, once again filled with emojis and the impression that she's having a blast. the phone is pocketed once more and she's off again, drink in hand to find something to occupy herself until the next game she can literally crash into.

funny, this vodka tastes a little like sand... she keeps on sippin', though.

Isra only half litens to his speach, but not because she dislieks it or does not wish to hear it, she's simply bored by the public platitudes. There is always a false layer about these sorts of things and Isra has a hard time being engaged in them. Things like drawing things in the sand with her toes or at least thinking about it.

The woman is far more delighted to see him descending the steps, the little apple is in her arms in no time. "Even if it was, the public will eat it up. That's the part that matters." she's grinning well before she gets tp grab his hand and lead him back to the beach with her ghost in tow to save her from the sun. She is smiling long after too.

Isra thinks limbooing very similar to other activities she has done in the past, and when she gets the chance to pass off the lttle apple and do so she's quick to take it.

The taste of her vulpix sunday is sweet on her tongues as she leans back to slide under the pole. It's an odd activity t witness peple participate in, weirder to do so herself. She can't help but wonder why the drunks that seem to be running around with their shirts off as if they have lost them are even trying.

She seems to have loosened up a little at least, she's grabbing Remiel Calcifet by the hand again and leading him off nowhere in particular.
